Rogina: I’ve been Waiting ‘Dignity Day’ for 10 Years

Egyptian actress Rojina is shooting her role in the film Yawm al Karamah (Dignity Day) under the direction of Ali Abdel Khaleq, which she considers her life opportunity she has been waiting for 10 years, the span of her artistic career.
“The film scripted by Gamaliddin Hussein is about a sensitive and important period in the Egyptian history which followed the defeat of the Egyptian army in June 1967.It specifically focuses on the period between the day on which the late Egyptian president Gamal Abdel Naser announced hi stepping down in June 1967 and October 21, 1967 when missile boats led by Awni Azar destroyed the Israeli destroyer Eilat and sank it opposite the Egyptian coastal City of Port Said. Azar died as a martyr after he destroyed the Israeli pride marking the day as day of dignity as far as the Egyptian Naval forces are concerned,” Rojina told the UAE daily al Bayan.
Commenting on her role in the film, Rojina said, “I play the role as Mary, the Christian girl and fiancée of the hero Awni Azar (played by Mohammed Riyadh). Mary is a fine romantic girl who lives to maintain her love for Awni but she receives the news on his death as a martyr after sinking the destroyer Eilat opposite Port Said.”
She added, “The news regarding the death of Awni is a very exhausting scene as I had to smile and cry at the same time. I cried for the loss of my love and smiled for the destruction of the Israeli fantasy.” -- a597e5.com
