‘Adolescent Memoirs’ Weaves Dreams with RealityEgypt will enter Cairo’s 25th Film Festival with the film Muthakkarat Murahikah (Adolescent Memoirs) directed by Enas Al Degheidi, according the Arabic daily Al Gomhuria. The film stars a number of young artists, including Hind Sabri, Ahmed Ezz, Shams, Ena’am Al Greatly and Fadia Ukashah. The film explores the life history of an adolescent girl who is driven by her urge to reject the status quo, which has no space for the romance, love and sympathy for which she hungers. However, she finds no way to escape from her bitter situation except by creating a new reality from her own imagination. Her fantasies are the only mechanism she has to create a new world, where she can feel romance, love and sympathy. The girl lives in two contradictory worlds: reality, with its bitterness, pains and sorrows, and the beautiful dream world of her fantasies. This new world depicts the girl’s desires as an adolescent. The girl comes across a real boy of her dreams whom she was imagining. At that point the girl’s optimism is restored. She is reassured that the boy of her dreams is not fantasy but rather part of the reality she was attempting to escape. Degheidi has been chosen as a member of the Cairo Film Festival jury for two years. She graduated from the Higher Cinema Institute of the Art Academy in 1975. The director’s films usually spark controversy among the public and critics because she is characterized as daring and supportive of Arab women’s causes and rights. Degheidi established a company for the production and distribution of films in 1995, and since then has produced two films: Estacoza and Dantella - 872488.com Salah Abdulla to Star in ‘Fame Crazy’After winning three best actor’s prizes, Egyptian actor Salah Abdulla is gearing up to take the absolute starring role in the film Magnoon Shuhrah (Fame Crazy).Egyptian Actresses Refuse Role in ‘Iben Mawt’ Due to Rape SceneThe movie “Iben Mawt” (Son of Death), directed by Kamel Al Qalyoubi, has hit a film industry record for actresses refusing roles, apparently because of a rape scene,Mustafa Qamar to Shoot New Film ‘Al-Hob wal Business’Egyptian singer Mustafa Qamar has started shooting his new movie “Al-Hob wal Business” (Love and Business).Yousef Shahin to Fund Films About Important WomenEgypt’s international film company powerhouse, Yousef Shahin, plans to produce a number of short narrative films exploring the lives of the most prominent womenMajeda Al Roomi to Play Laila Murad’s RoleEgyptian director Samir Saif is currently negotiating with the Lebanese singer Majeda Al Roomi to play the late singer Laila Murad in a new TV series on the life history of the late actor Anwar Wagdi.‘Field of Death’ Portrays Palestinians’ Insistence on Their IntifadaThe new Syrian TV film Haql al Mawt (The Field of Death) sheds light on the insistence of the Palestinian people to confront the Israeli arrogance and to go ahead with their Intifada.Egyptian Film ‘Lee Lee’ Wins Short Film Golden Bonzai AwardThe film “Lee Lee” directed by Marwan Hamed has won the golden Bonzai award for the best narrative film at the International Al Ayyam Festival for short filmsEnas al Degheidi to Shoot New Film on Egyptian GirlsEgyptian director Enas al Degheidi is gearing up for a new film based on the writer Huda al Zein’s novel Ghaba Min al Shawk (Forest of Thorns) to be scripted by Rafiq al Sabban. |
