Amr Diab to Star in Film Depicts Art in Cairo

Egyptian singer Amr Diab is gearing up to begin next October shooting a film which tackles a 25-year era of art in Cairo.
The film directed by Tareq al Orian, scripted by Medhat al Adel and produced by Mohsen Gaber in his cinema production debut, tells the story of a child dreaming of fame and entering the spotlight in singing. It takes this child 25 years to become a renowned star.
Diab has recently won a prize for the top selling song in the Middle East for the second time consecutively.
“This prize is donated for the best selling and excelling song in the Middle East. Thank God for winning this prize for the second time through my song Habibi Wala Ala Baloh (My Love is not Attentive). I was very happy because this winning is a success for every Arab singer because this prize is an added asset to the Arabic art whether I or any other Arab male or female artist secure it,” Diab told the UAE daily al Bayan.
The Egyptian singer said, “I am now gearing up for a massive national performance on the uprising and Palestine which will not be the first of its type by me and will come as a surprise. Last October I performed a song on the uprising and won the first prize for best song on the Intifada so far at Alexandria Festival. The song was written by poet Magdi al Naggar, composed by me, remade by Tareq Madkour and filmed as musical video under the direction of Sherif Sabri” -- 4b04a6.com
