Film Recalls Heroism of Egyptian Navy

Egyptian director Ali Abdel Khaleq will begin shooting his new film Yawm Al Karamah (Dignity Day), about the sinking of the Israeli destroyer Eilat, after the Eid Al Fitr holiday, according to the daily Al Ahram.
The film depicts the heroic acts of the Egyptian navy, which sank the Israeli destroyer Eilat on Oct. 21, 1967.
The film was scripted by Gamaliddin Hussein and costars Mohammed Riyadh, Hanan Turk, Tareq Lutfi, Ahmed Al Saadani and Awni Azer.
The titanic project, produced by the Radio and TV Union production department, is being coordinated with the Egyptian navy, with help from the battle's real heroes in writing the story.
The director of the production department, Medhat Zaki, said that the naval forces chief of staff held many meetings with the director, screenwriter and producer to establish the main guidelines for the work and shooting. Shooting will take place at the real sites of the event in Alexandria and Port Said.
“The scenes will be shot using aerial photography planes in addition to sea photography. The air forces will provide all the huge necessary resources and technology for the film and cast,” added Zaki.
He said that the film was considered one of the great films produced by the TV production department. The anniversary of the sinking of the Eilat has become a national day for the Egyptian navy - 65658f.com
