Cartoon Film Portrays Man’s Attempt to Rise Up by Using Digital Language

In the age of globalization, Syrian director Munir Jbawi thought proper to use the digital language in his short cartoon film Digital as a symbol for man’s attempts to rise up.
“Digital is a personification film through cartoon symbols on a stage made of a blank paper. Persons in the film are just numbers because we live in the globalization age in which each of us has become a number. This number facilitates the message which we want to convey in the film,” Jabbawi told the UAE daily Al Bayan.
He pointed out that “the number in the film attempts to rise up in order to reach a certain target and to obtain what it wants. This trend is found within us as human beings. These figures imagine that they will live better than the present if they move to another place. A certain number leads the other numbers and attempts to penetrate the exiting wall between its world and the world of luxury. In order to reach his target under the present circumstances, it has to cooperate with others and use them. But when he achieves his goals, he forgets the others that help him and kicks the nearest number to him.”
“Digital is the world of numbers which is the language of our age on which modern technology is built. We have used this technology in making the film as we used the computer for implementing pictures and music,” added Jabbawi.
However, the cartoon film Digital has recently been screened at Damascus International Film Festival -- e6b4b2.com
