Syrian TV to Produce Five TV SeriesSyrian TV is preparing to produce five TV series. The new series are considered a continuity of the boom witnessed by Syrian drama during the month of Ramdan last year, according to the Syria Times.Director Hani al-Romani has finished the fourth part of the film “al-Qeshani” (a public bathhouse) which records the modern history of Syria. The last part of the series deals with the socio-political changes that took place in Syria during the 1960’s. The first two parts of the series documented the events that took place during the Ottoman and French occupations highlighting specifically the resistance put up by the Syrian people against their occupiers. The second part also documented the military coups Syrian witnessed during the post independence period and the formation of different political parties. Director Mohammad Fardous Attassi is currently working on a series called “the Black Panel” which deals with a number of social themes emerging from the daily life and the problems faced by ordinary people. The “Laughing Man” is the title of a new TV film by Director Alaa Eddin al-Sha’ar. The scenario of the film represents a philosophical reading of human relations. The film stars Zuheir Abdul Karim, Andrei Skaff and Isam Ibaje. “The Apple” is a new TV series for children in which the female director, Ghada Mardam Beck, tries to attract children’s attention to important scientific facts about life through comic situations. “Not for Sale” and “the Black Wall” are the titles of two TV films currently being prepared by Syrian TV.
