Bahram Beizaei: ‘Killing Rabid Dogs’ Shows Modern Society ContradictionsIranian director Bahram Beizaei said that he was trying to show the social disorganization and contradictions of modern society with his film Killing Rabid Dogs, according to Tehran Times.In a meeting, which was held in the Kashan Office of Culture and Islamic Guidance in Tehran on Sunday, Beizaei stated, “In making this film, some of the hidden facts in daily life were revealed.” He said that the criticism of some journalists and critics was not right and added, “I have answered most of these criticisms with the screening of the film and public opinion has rejected them.” He said that people warmly welcomed the film because of its accurate depiction of the realities of life and social events. On why Basiji (volunteer forces) were shown in some scenes, he stated, “It was done to depict the time of the Sacred Defense.” He added that Killing Rabid Dogs shows the confrontation between the cultural and business elements of society and said that we can not generalize the subject of the film to any special section of society. Killing Rabid Dogs was released in Tehran in Eid al Fitr and screened at The Fajr Film Festival.
