Egyptian Film ‘Lee Lee’ Wins Short Film Golden Bonzai Award

The film “Lee Lee” directed by Marwan Hamed has won the golden Bonzai award for the best narrative film at the International Al Ayyam Festival for short films organized annually by the Tunisian cinema clubs union.
The film “Shajarat Attout” (Raspberry Tree) directed by Khaled Hatmad has also won a certificate of appreciation by the festival, according to the UAE daily Al Bayan.
The Egyptian ambassador to Tunisia, Mukhles Kutub, has been handed out the award and letter of appreciation at a ceremony held for handing out the awards at the seventh art hall in the Tunisian capital.
16 countries have participated in the festival including Egypt, Syria, Palestine, Lebanon, UAE, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Tunisia, Morocco, France, Italy, Denmark, Germany, Sweden and Canada. Sixty six films were screened between 16 and 20 May, 2001 to choose the best narrative film, best graduation project and best documentary film.
The festival jury was headed by the Syrian director Nabil Al Maleh -- da0d11.com
