Joint Arab TV Series Revives ‘Thee Qar’ Battle

Syrian director Basel Al Khatib has wrapped up shooting his new TV series Thee Qar, scripted by Jordanian writer Jamal Hamdan and costarring artists from Syria, Jordan, Palestine and Qatar, according to the daily Al Sharq Al Awsat.
From Syria, Asa'd Feddah plays the role of King Al Noman bin Munther, Muna Wasef plays the role of Noman’s wife, the objective queen, Norma Asaad plays the role of Hind Bent Al Noman, and Ghssan Masoud plays the role Sheikh Hani bin Masoud Al Shibani.
This is in addition to Radwan Akili and Maha Al Masri, and Palestinian actor Zuhair Al Nobani, who plays the role of Kisra.
From Jordan come Hisham Hnaidi, Khader Baydoun and Shafiqa Al Tall, in addition to Naser Abdel Ridha from Qatar.
The series, which consists of 30 episodes, has been produced by Qatar TV and implemented by the Arab Center in Amman at the cost of about $1.5 million. It will be aired by the Arab silver screens during the upcoming Ramadan.
“The series is one of the great productions in terms of the theme, visions and historical eras which it tackles, despite the fact that the famous battle Thee Qar was featured for only 20 minutes in the episode before last. The whole series is an introduction to the battle and subsequent events,” the director told the daily.
Khatib added that the series was shot in Jordan and Syria.
"I found the environment that suited the series best in the Jordanian desert of Wadi Rum. This is a charming and attractive area and I believe that it is a unique and rare type of desert, with its rocky, sandy and colored formations. We have also chosen a site on the Dead Sea shore to mock up the city of Hira, where the events took place. This site will surprise the audience and I will not reveal it now so that the pleasure of surprise for the audience will not be taken away.”
“The Dead Sea site represents an old Arab city where houses are built from clay and wood and the land is planted with palm trees and flowers. The site was a surprise for us. We shot scenes of the Thee Qar water spring, which was a serious adventure for us, in the Jordanian port city of Aqaba, only 100 meters away from the border with occupied Palestine,” said the director – a3f390.com
